OCAC Ceramics Hosts Bowl-Making Event to Benefit Gather:Make:Shelter

May 25, 2018

OCAC Ceramics is proud to host Throw Together II, a bowl-making event to benefit Gather:Make:Shelter. The program is a citywide creative collaboration shepherded by artist Dana Lynn Louis to create a new model of engagement and connection between people experiencing homelessness and those more fortunate.

The event will take place in the OCAC Ceramics Studio on Saturday, June 2, 9:00am-5:00pm. Join us and make some bowls for the community!

From Gather:Make:Shelter:

A gathering of potters to make bowls for the Gather:Make:Shelter project. Bowls will be decorated by artists experiencing homelessness in 50 workshops held throughout spring and summer 2018, led by Dana Lynn Louis. Workshop participants will be paid a stipend to collaborate with Portland potters, & learn painting, drawing, and entrepreneurial skills. The bowls will be sold at 2 events, celebrations of community with food provided by local chefs collaborating for this special event. Funds raised will put Portland families experiencing homelessness into homes.

Potters, we need your help! Over 500 people experiencing homelessness have signed up to participate in these workshops - which means we need 500+ bowls! Join us for a throwing and trimming marathon! Email Sarah, the Ceramics Wrangler or leave a message here to sign up!!
