October 17, 2017

Faculty member Andrea Heimer has 15 paintings from 2013-2017 currently on display at Galata Greek School in Istanbul, Turkey as part of the 15th Istanbul Biennial. The 2017 biennial is curated by Elmgreen & Dragset and is titled A Good Neighbor. The exhibition brings together 56 artists from all over the world, spanning six Istanbul art venues, and explores the political and social intricacies of the question, "What makes a good neighbor?"  The exhibition runs through November 12. Andrea's work is also included in the group exhibition get outta that spaceship and fight like a man at Franklin Parrasch in New York City. The exhibition, centered on a 1982 work by Ed Ruscha of the same title, features works by nineteen twentieth century and contemporary artists who in various media explore the impulse to have faith or potential belief in the existence of extraterrestrial life. Other artists include Keith Haring, Agnes Martin, Nick Cave, and Katherine Bradford. The exhibition closes October 21. Click here for more information on the exhibition.
